The title of this product listing contains the words "Easy to fly for beginners", and I would say that this may be relatively easy compared to some other RC planes, but it's still a little tricky and there is a definite learning curve. I'm a decent drone pilot but I had a hard time judging how to control this at first, and after a few practice sessions I still find it hard because there's not much room for error. A kid with no experience is not going to be able to control this without some serious practice. This plane goes fast and needs a very large wide open area in which to fly, like at LEAST soccer field size. This isn't the kind of RC toy you can play with in your back yard. One of the product photos shows it flying over a playground, but I would keep it far away from a playground because if you lose control and crash into someone, they probably would not be too happy. The plane is made of a super light styrofoam-like material with some kind of flexible core skeleton to keep it together. I thought that it wouldn't be very durable and that it would fall apart if it crash landed, but crashed mine very hard several times into the ground and even a chain link fence and it survived completely unscathed, which I found very impressive.I have no idea what the range of the controller is, but I was able to fly it all the way around a soccer field without any issues. It would probably be smart to write your contact info somewhere on the plane so that if you push the range too far and lose it, someone might find it and return it to you.I have a bunch of DEERC toys (cars, boats, and a helicopter), and I've been very pleased with the quality of all of them. This is the hardest to control by far, but once you get the hang of it it's super fun and rewarding to play with and watch it conquer the skies. If you are willing to put in the practice to fly this well then I would highly recommend it. At $60 I would say the value for money is excellent.
