This RC truck is quick, durable, and packed with hobby-grade components, including a metal drivetrain, metal differentials, and a proper 3-wire high-torque servo. It really checks most of the boxes you’d want in a beginner-friendly ready-to-run RC. The splash-proof electronics are a nice bonus, adding some peace of mind when running in less-than-ideal conditions.Performance-wise, it handles a variety of terrain very well thanks to the off-road tires, and the included drift wheels are a fun addition for sliding around on asphalt. The radio is comfortably sized for adult hands, and the batteries provide plenty of runtime for extended sessions.One design choice that stands out - and not in a good way - is the battery access. It’s located on the bottom of the truck behind a small Phillips screw, which makes quick battery swaps in the field inconvenient. Most 1:18 scale RCs typically allow easy access by removing the body shell and using a simple strap system, so this feels like a step backward and a bit “toy-grade,” which contrasts with the otherwise hobby-grade build.Another thing to be aware of is the transmitter’s self-calibration on startup. If you’re holding the throttle or steering when powering it on, it will register that position as neutral. In one case, my nephew powered it on while holding the trigger, and the truck immediately went full speed in reverse with no input. Funny in hindsight - but definitely something to watch out for.Overall, this is a fast, durable RC truck with excellent performance and solid components for the price. The only real drawback is the inconvenient, screwdriver-access battery compartment, which feels out of place given how well everything else is designed.

My son and I own a lot of RC products: it's our favourite hobby. We have purchased a lot of entry-level kits, along with some hobby-grade kits, and this kit from DEERC strikes the perfect balance of both. Inside the kit comes everything that you need: the car, the body, the controller, two batteries, a charger, extra tires, repair parts, and a multi-bit screw driver.The design of the car is very striking. It looks a lot like a Cybertruck with the custom tailgate cover option, and it even has the trademark light bar. The lightbar is very bright and blue, which looks great at night. The paint style also looks very futuristic and makes this RC car stand out from all of our other trucks.The controller is very responsive and offers adjustments for the steering trim/speed as well as for the throttle speed. The turning wheel has a nice amount of foam and feels very comfortable. The car comes equipped with off-road tires, but a set of drift tires are also included, and they are A LOT of fun on smooth surfaces. My only minor complaint about this model is the type of connector used for the battery. It works great with the included charger, but it is not a common connector for more hobby-grade kits, so my balance charger does not have a compatible connector. I can probably find one, but it would have been great if the batteries used a more standard connector like the rest of our kits.Overall, this is a great entry-level kit at a very attractive price. If you are new to RC, or if you are looking to expand your collection with a fun and affordable addition, you can't go wrong with this kit from DEERC.

For a 1/18 scale it's really not awful, yes it has a combo esc receiver, generic brushed motor, and friction shocks. But it the scale it works pretty well, especially considering the price. The body is kind of an eyesore a sort of cyber truck reimagined, but I found other brands short course bodies of the same scale fit if you drill the holes to line up, decent speed, id say around 20 mph, seems to be cheaper plastic but I'll be honest in saying the durability seems okay, never broke anything off yet. Great truck to start kids on.
