I'll admit it - I haven't been too much in the RC car/truck hobby side of things for some years. But I still have my Losi 1/10 scale stuff to pull out sometime, maybe...So I was immediately struck by all of the trick goodies you are getting with RC trucks these days, especially this little, less expensive 1/14 scale unit. Metal coil over shocks, ESC with built in cooling fan, brushless motor, metal dogbones, an extra set of wheels with tires, some replacement parts, an extra battery pack, front and ground effects lights - all the extra parts we used to have to buy before you really got your car/truck ready to put onto the road or track. The transmitter almost feels like an empty plastic shell, but actually starts feeling better when you install the batteries. And the charger... well it they had to save money somewhere. So plan on getting a real RC hobby charger - they aren't all that expensive and will make your RC life that much easier. Plus they take care of your batteries, and if you need to purchase replacement batteries less often, the charger you buy will pay for itself pretty quick. All in all a very positive experience out of the box. Easy to trim for steering and to get going. It is, however, definitely biased towards SPEED. I'll have to play with throttle trims (or maybe even read the manual!) to figure out how to tune it a in a little less of an 'explosive acceleration' mode. And many of you folks will want to do that too because regardless of the quality of components, a car like this running full speed into a wall, curb or other immovable object will do some damage (and you may not get all of the spare parts you need to get 'back onto the road'). So for those who might receive this as a gift and not have too much RC car experience yet - tune it back at first and have them get a longer term relationship with their gift.
